Dynamic Cupping

Dynamic Cupping...I love it! It is such an incredible addition to a massage therapy session or just a stand alone treatment. Cupping is something I use combined with most of my massage therapy treatments and I will tell you why.

Reason #1 Dynamic Cupping works great in conjunction with a massage because it allows the massage therapist to move on to another area of the body while still providing treatment to another area with the cups. From a client perspective, it’s a win win because they get more of a treatment as the cups work on one area and the therapist is working on another. Example, the right rotator cuff could use some more work but you really need to move on the hamstrings because that was a must for your client. You apply some cups on to the right rotator cuff and head down to the hamstrings. Rotator cuff gets the extra attention, hamstrings are getting worked on therefore your client is happy.

Reason #2 Dynamic Cupping works as a great tester. By moving the cups around the tissue it tells us where there might be more fascial restrictions. And yes, as a Massage Therapist you can also feel this with your hands but using the cups is a great way to confirm it.

Reason #3 Dynamic Cupping increases circulation in a different way than Massage Therapy. Massage Therapy brings blood flow to the area but the tissues are being compressed by the point of contact, elbow, forearm, thumb etc. With Dynamic Cupping the suction action is bringing a rush of blood to the area while the tissues are being pulled apart and opened up to accept the influx of blood. I believe that this is actually more effective in flushing out the toxins and build up from an injured area.

Reason #4 It can save your hands. Dynamic Cupping is another great tool in the tool box to ease the pressure off your hands because let’s face it, as a Massage Therapist we are always looking for ways to give the hands a break.

Dynamic Cupping is probably my #1 addition to my practice. I love it and clients love it!
